Tactile vase in Blue - 2
These vases are organically shaped with an almond-like profile that follows from the base all the way to the rim.
They are gently and softly shaped but equally quite rugged, especially where the base meets the walls. I have intentionally left that glaze line quite varied and visually sharp, with the glaze sponged away from the clay extending up from the base to showcase this as a feature
They have three sides, with a gentle dimple on each side and rounded corners. The pronounced throwing lines travel across all three sides to create a fluid, visual and tactile experience.
Very stable and suitable for large bunches of flowers.
- These vases are thrown on the wheel and later altered before a slab built base is added.
- They have very pronounced, lush tapered rim
- Approximate dimensions: 17 cm tall
- Bottom is decorated with my 'territory' theme design using mishima technique
My inspiration for these vases came from beach pebbles and rocks found in my local river
